Report Focuses on Bay Ridge Commercial Corridors
The 5th Ave BID is proud to announce the release of the Bay Ridge Commercial District Needs Assessment (CDNA). This report, made possible by an NYC Department of Small Business Services Avenue NYC Grant, highlights the existing business landscape, and local needs and opportunities for revitalization in Bay Ridge.
The year-long study collected hundreds of survey responses from consumers and merchants and included extensive streetscape observations on 5th Ave, 3rd Ave, and 86th Street. Within the CDNA one will find demographic data, local spending and sales data, and transportation data. Community-based organizations, merchant groups, and elected officials also provided feedback on preliminary findings that helped shape the final report.
The Commercial District Needs Assessment can be useful to a variety of community stakeholders. The report will provide merchants associations, and other community-based organizations with a snapshot of desired business resources and services. Local electeds will get a better sense of how their constituents perceive Bay Ridge’s commercial corridors in terms of safety, cleanliness and overall experience. Realtors will have a concise summary of the corridors’ business mix, storefront conditions and vacancy rates. Residents will get to read what their neighbors and local merchants are saying about shopping and doing business in Bay Ridge
For certain, the pandemic has had an enormous impact on the business landscape. The CDNA will be a critical tool for understanding the strengths, challenges and opportunities of our commercial corridors in Bay Ridge and how to respond during these unprecedented times.
